Spoilers under the cut.
I'm over Once upon a time so much. Mostly because of Regina and how her story is always number one, at the cost of Emma, Charmings, Ruby et all.
But mostly because they waste Robert Carlyle, one of the best actors of his or any other generation on a now thankless role. Once Rumple was an intriguing and multi-layered villian, but now..
Now we are stuck with Rumple does bad deed and is forgiven, rinse and repeat over and over.
Why does Belle keep taking him back? Stockholm syndrome or is she drawn to the darkness? The show won't allow the relationship to be as fucked up as it is, or to admit that she can be attracted to darkness and power. The Lacey bit was intriguing, but soon dropped. In it Belle got a bad girl persona who got off on her Beast doing evil. But soon Lacey vanished and was replaced by normal Belle. Belle could be drawn to darkness, but then she'd be dark and we can't have that.
The plot of someone good is corrupted by a loved one who's dark and who influences them to go bad can be well-done. (Oh hello Hannibal, Jareth etc). It can create good drama, but Once only wants a light Belle, not a darker persona. So she comes across as a doormat, and a fool. It's a real shame, and I'm out. I hope Carlyle can move on after the show is over.
I want better for Emilie du Ravin too.
