So just rewatched Lynda LaPlante's miniseries Widows/Widows 2. The trilogy concludes with She's out. In a nutshell it's a heist story about gangster widows taking over their husbands' plans for a perfect robbery. Stuff doesn't always go according to plan.. The amazing Ann Mitchell rocks the part of tough as nails, but deeply human Dolly Rawlins. The other women are almost as good. LaPlante frequently looks at women in male-dominated environments and she almost always succeeds in making it interesting. Widows has amazing eighties fashions..Oh dear the hairspray the ladies must have used. The show seems mostly only available on region 2(Europe)dvd. Worth a look if you can find it. AO3 has a grand total of one Widows/She's out fanfic. Oh dear. Maybe I'll add one more.
Also planning to see LaPlante's The Governor about a female governor(warden in US lingo) of a male prison. Sounds most intriguing. Both shows have American remakes..can't comment on those. The one for the Governor is called The warden. Still has a female lead thankfully.
